FEEL THE FEAR, BUT.... DEC. 8, 2019

SHALOM DEAR READERS:

WOW, WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES, OR A MONTH, OR A YEAR IN OUR PRECIOUS LIVES.

OUR TOPIC THIS MONTH:
'FEEL THE FEAR, BUT DO IT ANYWAYS!'

YEARS AGO, I READ A BOOK BY SUSAN JEFFERS, 'FEEL THE FEAR, BUT DO IT ANYWAYS.'  IT HAS CARRIED ME ALL THESE YEARS, AND THROUGH EVERY STRUGGLE THAT I MEET BOTH PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY AND EMOTIONALLY,

LIFE BRINGS ITS UPS AND DOWNS. AND THOSE OF US WHO ARE USING THIS BLOG, ARE MEETING WITH DOWNS, ALTHOUGH HOPEFULLY WITH SOME GOOD MOMENTS. YES, IT IS O'KAY TO FEEL AFRAID, VERY MUCH SO. BUT.....DO WE JUST SIT THERE/LIE THERE AND MOAN AND WAIL, (YES, SOMEWHAT). BUT THEN WE MUST PICK OURSELVES UP AND DO WHAT IS NECESSARY. LETT HEM GIVE US CHEMO, SHOTS, TREATMENTS, WITH THE ETERNAL HOPE THAT WE WILL COME THRU.

 AS WE ALL KNOW, WE ARE ON THE TRAIN OF LIFE. PEOPLE ARE GETTING ON THE TRAIN AND GETTING OFF, WHEN THEIR TIME IS UP. BUT WE DON'T WANT TO GET OFF THE TRAIN NOW AND NOT IN THE NEAR FUTURE. SO ...... LET'S DO WHAT IS NEEDED TO DO. ACCEPT THE TREATMENTS, THE PAIN, THE INCONVENIENCE, AND DO WHAT WE MUST TO HELP OURSELVES. 

'IF I AM NOT FOR MYSELF, WHO WILL BE?' A FAMOUS HEBREW SAYING,  THOSE WHO HELP THEMSELVES IS AS IMPORTANT AS US HELPING OTHERS!

MY WISH FOR ALL OF US THIS WINTER MONTH OF DECEMBER IS THAT FIND WAYS TO SAY THANK YOU FOR WHAT GOOD WE DO HAVE, AND TO REPEAT OUR PRAYERS OF GRATITUDE OFTEN!

AT THIS TIME OF YEAR, WE ARE REMINDED OF OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY WHO ARE ILL OR WHO HAVE DIED. THEY HAVE FINISHED THEIR RIDE ON THE TRAIN OF LIFE. HOW SIMPLE IT IS TO SAY THAT SENTENCE, BUT OH, HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO ACCEPT IT!  EACH OF US HAS HIS BURDEN TO CARRY, HIS PAIN TO LIVE WITH, AND SOMEHOW TO CONTINUE TO LIVE AND LAUGH AND ENJOY SOMEWHAT!

WHAT A CHALLENGE LIFE IS! BUT WE HAVE TODAY, RIGHT NOW, TO GRAB THE MOMENTS WE HAVE TO SOMEHOW ENJOY, LAUGH, (AND EVEN CRY) AND BE AWARE AND THANKFUL FOR WHAT WE DO HAVE! A FRIEND'S COMPANY, A CHILD OR GRANDCHILDS  LAUGH, A GOOD BOOK TO READ, A TIME FOR OURSELVES TO REST, TO JUST 'BE', AND SOMEHOW, YES, SOMEHOW TO BE GRATEFUL FOR WHAT WE HAVE TODAY, AS THIS MOMENT IN TIME.

WE ARE ON THE TRAIN OF LIFE. AT SOME TIME, EVERYONE HAS THEIR TURN TO GET OFF THE TRAIN OF LIFE. IT IS THE NATURE'S WAY FOR ALL FLOWERS, TREES, ANIMALS, AND YES OURSELVES, HUMAN BEINGS TO DIE.

BUT RIGHT NOW ON OCT. 6, 2019, WE ARE HERE. SO I WISH ALL OF US SOME PLEASURE, SOME HAPPY MOMENTS, SOME LAUGHTER AND SMILES. MAY WE HAVE MANY GOOD MOMENTS TO OVERCOME THE UNPLEASANT ONES WE HAVE TO ACCEPT. MAY THIS YEAR BE A GOOD ONE FOR ALL OF US. WHAT WE CAN DO IS TO FIND HAPPY ACTIVITIES TO KEEP US GOING.

ALONG THE TRAIN OF LIFE, SEPT. 2019

WELL, HERE WE ARE IN SEPT. 2019. HOW LUCKY WE ARE TO BE ALIVE, TO COMMENCE OUR STUDIES, OR CONTINUE IN THE WORK FORCE, OR TO JUST LIVE, BREATHE THE WORLD AROUND US.
NEW BEGINNINGS , WE ARE AWARE OF A SHOFAR(RAM'S HORN) BEING BLOWN DAILY, WE THINK OF MISTAKES WE HAVE MADE, OF REPENTANCE, OF WANTING TO LIVE AND CONTINUE ON , ON THIS PLANET EARTH.  EACH OF US IS EXPERIENCING THE AGING PROCESS, THE HEALING PROCESS, THE DECLINING PROCESS-EACH BEING NORMAL PROCESSES TO GO THROUGH IN LIFE.

I SUGGEST THAT WE TAKE TIME TO PONDER JUST HOW FORTUNATE WE ARE-DO WE STILL HAVE FRIENDS AROUND US, FAMILY WHO LOVE US, A HOME TO LIVE IN, A COMMUNITY TO BE PART OF?  GRATITUDE IS A TERM THAT I HANG ONTO, HOW MUCH I HAVE TO BE THANKFUL FOR, DESPITE THE NEGATIVE ELEMENTS THAT ARE PART OF WHAT WE MUST GO THROUGH BOTH PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY, AND MENTALLY.

CAN WE ELIMINATE ALL THE  NEGATIVES? BUT CAN WE STRIVE TO ACCEPT WHAT WE MUST, TO THINK OF THE POSITIVE GOOD THINGS TO HANG ONTO. I FIND THAT BY WRITING A LIST OF ALL THE GOOD IN MY LIFE, POINT FORM, I SEE THAT DESPITE THE DIFFICULT ACHES, PAINS, AND WORRIES, THERE IS MUCH TO BE SO THANKFUL FOR.

I CHALLENGE MYSELF DAILY TO THINK POSITIVELY . IT IS SO EASY TO DWELL ONTHE NEGATIVE.  AND TO PITY OURSELVES, AND WHAT WE HAVE TO GO THROUGH.

LET ELUL, THIS MONTH LEADING UP TO THE JEWISH NEW YEAR, ROSH HASHANA, EMBRACE US WITH THANKFULNESS AND  HOPEFULNESS DAILY!

ALONG THE TRAIN OF LIFE-AUGUST, 2019

SHALOM/HI TO ANY READERS:

HERE WE ARE AT THE BEGINNING OF AUGUST. SUMMER BEATS UPON US. AROUND ME, I SEE AND HEAR OF MANY PERSONALITIES WHOM I KNOW/KNEW WHO HAVE DIED. HOW CAN THEY? THEY ARE STILL SO YOUNG, RELATIVELY.

THE TRAIN OF LIFE KEEPS TRAVELING-PEOPLE, INCLUDING ONES WE KNOW AND/OR LOVE/LIKE, ARE LEAVING THE TRAIN ; THAT MEANS THEY  ARE DEAD. NEW FACES ARE ON THE TRAIN-YOUNG ONES, NEW BABIES, GRANDCHILDREN, NEW FRIENDS (IF WE ARE FORTUNATE). AND THE TRAIN KEEPS RUMBLING ALONG. WHO? WHEN? WHERE? WHERE HAVE THEY GONE? WE ARE FINDING OURSELVES FRIGHTENED. IS IT MY TURN SOON? WHO KNOWS?

AND SO, I GO BACK TO MY MAIN SUGGESTION DURING OUR DIFFICULT TIMES HERE ON EARTH. FINDING MOMENTS TO TREASURE, FINDING THINGS CONSTANTLY TO BE THANKFUL FOR, LIVING AS BEST THAT WE CAN, AND ACCEPTING THINGS THAT WE CANNOT CHANGE.  I THINK OF THE SONG: 'LIFE IS LIKE A DREAM'. AND IT IS. LET'S DO OUR BEST TO MAKE IT A GOOD DREAM IN REALITY. WHAT IS BEYOND OUR CONTROL IS. BUT WHAT CHANGES OF HEART AND MIND CAN WE CONTROL TO KEEP AFLOAT AND STILL ABLE TO ENJOY EVEN THE MINUTE THINGS THAT WE SEE, THAT WE GET, THAT WE CAN GIVE.

I WISH EACH OF YOU A HEALTHY OUTLOOK ON OUR TIME ON THE TRAIN OF LIFE. IT TAKES WORK AND CONCENTRATION TO BE POSITIVE. WE MUST WORK ON OURSELVES!

WHAT IS OUR MOOD, OUR SITUATION, OUR LOOK TO THE FUTURE AT THIS POINT OF DAY AND TIME?

NO ONE KNOW, NO ONE REALLY KNOWS WHEN OR WHERE OUR TIME WILL BE TO LEAVE THIS TRAIN RIDE. BUT RIGHT NOW TODAY, NOW, IF WE ARE READING THIS LETTER, WE HAVE THIS MOMENT, MAYBE WE HAVE ALL OF THIS DAY ALONG THE TRAIN OF LIFE.

HOW ARE WE USING IT? ARE WE DOING SOMETHING PLEASANT FOR OURSELVES? OR ARE WE PINING AWAY FOR WHAT WAS, AND CANNOT BE AGAIN.

 HAVE WE SMILED TODAY AT SOMEONE, AT SOMETHING? COULD WE MAKE SOMEONE ELSE HAPPY TODAY, WITH A SMILE, A HELLO AND SMALL CONVERSATION TO SEE HE/SHE IS FEELING TODAY.

HAVE WE NOURISHED OURSELVES WITH A GOOD HEALTHY MEAL, OR A GOOD NOSH? HAVE WE SAT DOWN AND LEFT ALL OUR TASKS AT HAND, TO READ A BOOK THAT WE ARE IN MIDST OF.

 HAVE WE CALLED A FRIEND, A RELATIVE, WHO IS THERE JUST FOR THE CALLING.

WE HAVE 'THIS MOMENT IN TIME' TO TAKE A DEEP BREATH, AND DO SOMETHING NICE FOR OURSELVES! WE HAVE NO GUARANTEES OF TIME-NO ONE REALLY DOES, EVEN THE 'HEALTHY' ONES. BUT WE KNOW TO APPRECIATE EVERY BIT OF LIFE AND TIME.

SO FOR THIS MONTH OF JUNE, I AM WISHING ALL OF US (ME TOO, AS I SOMETIMES DROWN IN MY SORROW OF FEELINGS AND HAPPENINGS AROUND US),  TO SIT UP OR STAND UP AND SAY TO OURSELVES: NOW IS MY TIME! MORE AND MORE, I AM REALIZING THE IMPERMANENCE IN LIFE. NOTHING IS FOREVER, NOTHING LASTS FOREVER. JUST AS THE LOVELY FLOWERS WITHER AND FADE AND DIE, AND AS ALL THE ANIMAL CREATURES DO, SO DO WE HUMAN BEINGS GROW, FLOURISH, WITHER, AND DIE. THAT IS THE SCHEME OF LIFE.

KNOWING THAT, WE REMEMBER KOHELET/PSALMS. TO EVERY THING THERE AS A SEASON. A TIME TO GROW, A TIME TO LIVE, A TIME TO SOAR, AND A TIME TO OUR END. THOSE OF US WHO LIFE WITH PAIN, ARE FORCED TO PAINFULLY BE SO AWARE OF OUR BODY AND MIND LIMITATIONS.

 I AM SUGGESTING TO ALL OF US, INCLUDING TO MYSELF, THAT WE DO REACH OUT FOR FRIENDSHIP, HELP, ENCOURAGEMENT, AND FRIENDSHIP,

 MAN IS NOT MADE TO LIVE UTTERLY ALONE. MANY OF US REACH OUT TO OUR CREATOR, BUT RIGHT HERE ON EARTH, WE NEED PEOPLE. 'PEOPLE NEED PEOPLE', A SAYING /SONG WAS SO POPULAR. THANK G. TO REACH OUT TO US ALL ONCE AGAIN. WHEN WE ARE NOT FEELING UP TO PAR, IT IS SO EASY TO BECOME A RECLUSE IN OUR HOME. WHEN WE ARE IN NEED, THOUGH, SUCH AS NEEDING SOMEONE TO ACCOMPANY US TO THE HOSPITAL, OR TO SIT BY OUR SIDE WHEN WE HAVE DIFFICULTY COPING WITH WHAT IS,- ALL OF A SUDDEN, WE HAVE NO ONE TO TURN TO. YES, EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN LIVES, AND ARE BUSY. WE DON'T WANT TO 'BOTHER' ANYONE.

I AM SUGGESTING THAT WE MUST REACH OUT, AND DEVELOP FOR OURSELVES A FRIEND OR TWO, OR MORE. MAN IS NOT MEANT TO BE EXCLUSIVELY ALONE! WE CANNOT SURVIVE ON THIS 'ISLAND' WITHOUT REACHING OUT FOR FRIENDSHIP AND CARING.

SO THIS MONTH I AM ASKING EACH ONE OF US TO LOOK AROUND US. DO WE HAVE SOMEONE, FAMILY OR FRIEND, THAT WE CAN REACH OUT TO FOR SUPPORT, TO BE AT OUR SIDE, WHEN WE NEED IT. JUST AS WE WANT TO HELP OTHERS, AND GET TRUE SATISFACTION AT HAVING BEEN THERE FOR SOMEONE ELSE, SO MUST WE BEFRIEND AND SEEK OUT SOMEONE FOR OURSELVES. GOING TO SERIOUS HOSPITAL PROCEDURES, DISCUSSIONS WITH DOCTORS WARRANTS OUR TAKING SOME FRIEND WITH US.

ALONG THE JOURNEY OF LIFE, JAN. 2019

HELLO/SHALOM OUT THERE:

THIS PAST MONTH HAS BEEN QUITE DIFFICULT AND CHALLENGING, AS MANY GET CANCER AND/OR MORE COMPLICATIONS. THE TRAIN OF LIFE IS LETTING TOO MANY OF MY DEAR ONES GET OFF PERMANENTLY.

THAT IS THE REALITY OF LIFE!

THE MAIN WAY I COPE WITH MY REALITIES IS TO GRAB ONTO TODAY,. WE CAN'T CHANGE YESTERDAY, WE CAN'T PREDICT WHAT TOMORROW WILL BRING, BUT WE CAN DEAL WITH BETTERING OUR TODAY. TO GIVE GRATITUDE FOR EVERY GOOD THING OR PERSON IN OUR LIVES, TO MAKE THE BEST OF EACH DAY-TO READ, TO RELAX, TO VISIT WITH LOVING FRIENDS AND FAMILY, TO DO WHAT MAKES US FEEL GOOD. AT THE SAME TIME, OF COURSE, WE MUST DO WHATEVER MEDICAL NEEDS ARE UPON US TO DO TO TRY TO BETTER OUR SITUATION.

  LET'S REMEMBER PRAYER, MEDITATION, EXERCISE, AND YES, EVEN 'FUN' ACTIVITIES.

AT SOME POINT WE ALL, YOU, ME, MY DEAREST FRIENDS AND FAMILY WILL BE TAKEN OFF THE TRAIN AS IT JOURNEYS ALONG. THAT IS BEYOND OUR CONTROL. BUT WE CAN TAKE STEPS ALONG THIS TRIP. VISIT ANOTHER ONE IN MORE NEED THAN OURS. HELP A NEIGHBOR, CALL BY PHONE IF WE CAN'T GET OUT OURSELVES.
